Many documents are stored in closed stacks; therefore, it is necessary to search for the document in the online catalog and place a request. The requested document, unless borrowed by another user, will usually be brought to the service desk within an hour.

Registration must be done in person at the SNK. You can pre-fill a registration form on the SNK website. Slovak citizens (15+) must present a valid ID. Foreigners with residency permits or asylum status are also eligible. Under 18s require guardian consent.

The loan period for off-site borrowing is 30 days.

You can extend the loan via the online catalog, in person, by phone, or email. Extensions are possible up to 3 times for 30 days each, provided the book is not reserved by another user.

Registered users can borrow up to 10 documents; students up to 15 documents.

If possible, extend the loan period. Otherwise, you must pay an overdue fee according to the current SNK price list: Price List.

For documents published before 1918, an identical copy (facsimile) is required. For documents after 1918, an undamaged copy of the same edition. If replacement isn't possible, financial compensation is required.

Yes, documents currently borrowed by another user can be reserved through the online catalog if you have a valid library card.

SNK will notify you when the book is returned. You typically have 10 calendar days to pick it up.
