| Abstract: | CONCLUSION. The effects of beating upon subsequent thermal degradation, investigated using examples of bleached, unbleached and groundwood pulps, were found to be most apparent when thermal aging was conducted at high humidities. Extensive beating of the pulp furnish generally hastened the processes of thermal aging-increasing color reversion, chain breakage, the rise in hot-1%-alkali-soluble matter, and the development of acidity. |
