| Abstract: | SUMARRIES. Introduce by a history of the efforts undertaken by libraries that are confronted with the poor durability of newsprint and by a survey on newsprint chemistry a new system for deacidifying and strengthening is described. The system is based on combined impregnating the volumes with an aqueous solution (or emulsion resp.) of methyl cellulose, a little bit of PVAC and magnesium carbonate in a vacuum chamber and freeze drying them. Most important for good success is choosing an apt type of MC and carrying out freeze drying in an apt manner. |
