| Summary: | SUMMARIES. "Chief Threats to Library Collections - Preservation and Conservation" was the title of a conference organized by the Board of the PLA Division in Gdańsk. The conference held from September 14-15, 1998 was attended by librarians of all types of libraries of the Three Cities, the Gdańsk and Słupsk Voivodship, particularly the staff responsible for rare Collections and employed in book and conservation departments. The first day of the conference began at the Gdańsk Library of the Polish Academy of Sciences and ended with the visiting of the Main Library of the Gdańsk University. The highlight of the second day was the visit to the Institute of Heritage Studies and Conservation of the Nicholaus Copernicus University in Toruń. Also the activity of the Nicholaus Copernicus University Main Library was presented. During the Gdańsk-Toruń conference the theoretical reflection was dominated by sharing of experiences concerning preservation of library Collections and conservation work. The conference was chaired by Dr Barbara Drewniewska-Idziak, head of the Library Preservation and Conservation Commission at the PLA Main Board. |
