Description
Summary:SUMMARIES. The action to microfilm library collections has been underway in the National Library since 1950. This action covers not only resources of the National Library, but also some of the more precious library collections of universities., institutions and scientific societies, public and church book collections as well as private collections from all over Poland. Thanks to the microfilming programme, a copious collection of microfilms of manuscripts, old prints, new prints, musical records and periodicals was created. Microfilms allow us to preserve original documents and to supplement gaps in library collections as well as to solve problems of access to them. Included in the programme of creating and collecting library resources, microfilms are a proven carrier of information and knowledge collected in different library materials providing direct and permanent access for today's and future generations to our cultural heritage.
