The author presents different aspects of protection of library collections during a move: the need to secure them against mechanical damage, theft or loss, and the need to clean and disinfect them and to properly place them in the new premises. Against this general background, the author discusses the solution applied during the move of the collections of the University Library in Warsaw: the organisation of packaging and unpacking of collections, the correlation of these actions with the cleaning and disinfecting of collections, the organisation of transport and the types of protection packaging used to secure the collections against damage during the course of work described above. |
