| Zhrnutie: | SUMMARIES. From 24 until 26 of February 1999 the following events took place: The 5th Fair of Town Conservation and Renovation Conservatio 99, the 4th Auction of Historical Monuments and the 2nd Forum of Conservators, the subject of which was "Prevention in Conservation of Monuments". The meeting began with papers delivered on subjects very closely related to the theme of the forum. The speakers were Professor Dr. Bogumiła Rouba, professor Dr. Andrzej Tomaszewski, Father Stanisław Kardasz, Mr. Marek Barański, M.Sc. Eng. Authors emphasised the importance and rank of prevention, otherwise called preventive conservation. The purpose of preventive conservation is to preserve a historical monument a long as it is possible without interfering into the structure of the monument. The motto of every conservator of cultural and natural monuments should be the Hippocratic oath: "Primum non nocere". At the forum, representatives of large companies producing silicone agents for conservation, water-proofing cream for repelling water, wooden doors and new methods of drying buildings delivered papers on their products. Scientific and research work of the units of the Institute of Historical Monuments Science and Conservation Science was presented as well as studies on stone surfaces of streets and squares in historical centres. Many companies which sell conservation materials or which perform conservation work participated in the Fair. A Scientific Conference of Students of Conservation of Monuments entitled "Students on Conservation" was also held in Toruń on 25 and 26 of February, 1999.
