Abstract:SUMMARIES. The origin and nature of the Dead Sea Scrolls are briefly described. The condition of the scrolls and the damage they suffered after their discovery by inappropriate treatment, particularly the use of cellotape, are reported. The scrolls were subjected to first-aid treatment by the present team and are now being freed from the cellotape, stains removed and the fragments housed in passe-partouts and stabile tex.
