| Abstract: | Summaries. The history of nature is a steady process of increasing knowledge. Modern science has created tools to understand the world in its total complex structure: irreversible thermodynamics, synergetics and the theory of chaos and of fractals. So art and nature turn out to be two complementary ways to grasp the world. The tools mentioned have both a synthetic and an analytical character. Simple examples demonstrate how fractals influence the work of the conservator and restorer and where the future potential for application is. |
