| Abstract: | SUMMARY. Some new and improved systems are presented, to stabilise water soluble dyestuff, when documents and works of graphic arts with water-soluble inks need a wet treatment, cleaning or buffering of aqueous bath. Also the dyestuff of ballpoint pens and stamping inks is not resistant against moisture. All these dyes are of ionic nature, now they can be stabilised, by an electrostatic procedure: for instance Mesi-tol NBS for cationic dyestuffs and Rewin EL for anionic dye stuffs (most of the blue inks are of this type). Furthermore the advantages/'disadvantages of other stabilising methods are discussed like gelatine in aerosol technique for sensitive velvet-like painting-surfaces and other remedies like alum or "funori" and agar-agar. All of these have a permanent stabilising effect, but recently there are also some temporary fixatives like Cyclododecan, that means they stabilise fugitive inks just for some time and than they sublimate without residues. CONCLUSION. |
