The Book Saver Process of mass deacidification was developed by a team of researchers directed by Dr. Rogelio Areal, professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering and director of the Technological Center for Restoration and Conservation of Books and Documents at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. CSC, SL was founded in May 1999 by Dr. Areal. His aim was to contribute to the preservation of the world's written heritage by the launching of the Book Saver Process commercially.
