| Abstract: | SUMMARIES. Various techniques for analysing the air (e. g. volumetric and sedimentation) and the contamination of surfaces (e.g. culture swab, Petrifi/msTM, Rodac plates and paper disks) were carried out in four historic buildings in St. Petersburg and Paris. The results indicated that the levels of airborne fungi in the exhibition rooms depended on the operating conditions of the ventilation system, and not on the presence of visitors. Compared to other methods, the culture swabs proved to be the most suitable for the assessment of the contamination level of surfaces of art objects. |
