520 3 |a SUMMARIES.Angular distribution of reflectance spectra and of colorimetric parameters for printed papers and foils were measured by gonio-spectro-photometry. Lightness, chroma and hue angle account high changes and extremes round the specular angle, depending on the gloss of material tested. It complicates color measu-rements and full determination (or definition) of the complex appearance of prints. A "bottom color gloss" influences the appearance of printed metalized foils or other prints on high glossy substrates.
520 3 |a CONCLUSIOIN. Photometric cosine law of the ideal diffuser is significantly perturbed by gloss in a large region, several tens of degrees round the specular angle. So lightness, chroma and hue angle suffer by high changes and extremes depending on the gloss of the material tested, in this gloss angle region. It complicates color measurements and full determination or definition of the complex appearance of printed materials, comparing it with the perception by two human eyes at common illumination conditions. The shoulders of specular peaks are rather broad in any case, so the Lorentz function seems to be the best approximation of angular distributions. It was found that "bottom color gloss" considerably influences the appearance of printed metalized foils or other prints on high glossy substrates.
