520 3 |a SUMARRIES. A report is given on the first four years of experience with the Wei T´o Nonaqueous Book Deacidification System of the National Library of Canada, that was begun in 1974, completed in 1978 and finally tested in 1981. Working 24 hours a day in its full capacity - what not yet has been operated in practice - the system can deacidify 150,000 volumes. A disadvantage of the system is that some pre-selection is necessary: leatherbound books cannot be treated indiscriminately; some coloured illustrations must be masked; some plastics used for bindings can suffer harm.
