| Abstract: | SUMARRIES. The communication describes the use of 1 °/o w/v solutions of barium hydroxide in methanol for the deacidification of documents in cases where aqueous solutions cannot be used, e. g., for water-labile inks and vellum. Determinations of acidity before and after treatment shew that the method is effective. Folding endurance tests indicate that the method is safe. Experimental evidence is used to explain apparent anomalies in results. |
